KASA Partners with Local Governments to Accelerate Satellite Information Utilization in Administrative Sites - Satellite Information Utilization Council Expands to 39 Institutions with the Addition of Sejong City -The Korea AeroSpace Administration, led by the Administrator Yoon Youngbin, announced on Wednesday, September 11th, that it had approved the membership of Sejong Special Self-Governing City into the Satellite Information Utilization Council hereinafter referred to as the Council and completed all necessary procedures for the distribution of satellite information. This year, a total of two local governments, including Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, have joined the Council. In the past, the government operated the Council to promote the distribution and utilization of satellite information for public purposes. In 2013, it evolved into an official pan-governmental satellite information coordination body through the establishment of a directive. Initially, only central administrative agencies and their affiliated institutions were eligible to join the Council. However, to enhance administrative services through the efficient use of national satellite information, the directive was revised in 2023 to allow local governments to participate. As a result, following Jeju Provinces membership in February this year, Sejong City became the second local government to join, expanding the number of affiliated organizations in the Council from 37 to 39.Administrator Yoon Youngbin stated, "We plan to further expand the distribution of satellite information through the Council so that it can be promptly provided to administrative sites in need of national satellite data." He added, "We will continue to encourage local governments to join the Council and actively support the use of satellite information to ensure that the public can experience the value and importance of satellite data."
