– Comprehensive Results of Communications with Secondary Payload Satellites from Nuri’s Fifth Launch Announced

The Korea AeroSpace Administration (KASA, Administrator Taeseog Oh) and the Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI, President Lee Sang-cheol, hereinafter KARI) announced the results of communications with the nine secondary payload satellites launched aboard Nuri, Korea’s space launch vehicle, at 12:25 p.m. on Wednesday, October 7.

Of the 10 secondary payload satellites aboard Nuri, nine were successfully deployed, while one (Quaternion PerSat-2) was not deployed. All nine successfully separated satellites have now established contact and are undergoing checks in preparation for their missions.

BEE-1012 (Space Liintech) successfully established two-way communications on its first contact attempt at approximately 2:00 p.m. on October 7 and is undergoing satellite checks for its primary mission.

E3T Unit 2 (KARI) successfully established two-way communications on its first contact attempt at approximately 2:30 p.m. on October 7. It has completed checks of the satellite bus and is now checking its payload.

ULYSSES (Unmanned Exploration Laboratory) successfully established two-way communications on its first contact attempt at approximately 2:00 p.m. on October 7. Satellite checks confirmed that its payload was in good condition.

SD-1Sat (Space & Bean) successfully established two-way communications on its first contact attempt at approximately 2:00 p.m. on October 7 and received data, including GPS log data.

CP-Sat (Chosun University) received a beacon signal at approximately 2:00 p.m. on October 7 and successfully established two-way communications at approximately 11:00 p.m. the same day. It obtained satellite status and operational data and received image data.

DaejeonSat-1 (Daejeon Metropolitan City) successfully established two-way communications at approximately 11:00 p.m. on October 8. Checks confirmed that the satellite was in normal condition, including the successful deployment of its solar panels.

SLEDGE (OnB Space) first received a beacon signal at approximately 10:00 p.m. on October 7 and successfully received data via downlink on October 9. Checks confirmed that the solar panels and antenna had deployed normally. The ground station is currently attempting to uplink data to the satellite to establish two-way communications.

JACK-007 (Cosmoworks) received a beacon signal on its first contact attempt at approximately 2:00 p.m. on October 7 and subsequently succeeded in receiving data via downlink, confirming that the satellite was in good condition.

GBSAT (KAIST) received a beacon signal on its first contact attempt at approximately 1:00 p.m. on October 7 and successfully received data via downlink at approximately 11:00 p.m. the same day. The ground station is currently attempting to uplink data to establish two-way communications.

Beacon reception: The ground station receives status signals and location information from a satellite.
Uplink: The transmission of commands and data from a ground station to a satellite.
Downlink: The transmission of data and images collected by a satellite to a ground station.
Two-way communications: Communication in which a satellite and a ground station exchange data through uplink and downlink.
